I will have to read it when I have time.I don't know.Ī Very Disappointing Audiobook in The Vampire Chronicles Series I was looking forward to this book even pre-ordered and now I can't even enjoy it because of this issue. I can't even get into the feel and vibe of the book and live the Anne Rice Lestat Vampire fantasy because of how bad of a fit this guy is for the character he is portraying. Hell I would even buy a second copy of this book with him narrating. Please have Simon redo this and I will gladly rereview. Simon Vance killed the portrayal of Lestat's accent and general feel and vibe of his voice. He is French, centuries old, educated, and even sounds attractive. Does Lestat have the accent of a 45 year old white guy from upstate New York? No. I am borderline offended that either the publisher, Anne Rice, or anyone else involved would think that this narrator is even remotely passable as Lestat. Just to be clear I am a avid, long-time fan of both Anne Rice and especially the Vampire Chronicles. You've got to be kidding with this nararator. ![]() ![]() Both novels are set in a speculative future that feels quite like the present.
